Nice post above too, it is nice to visit old memories . . . some; some are best left forgotten though the lessons from them linger for life.JayOutWesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06805519158649261825noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2803662201704004667.post-15216167809073719212010-09-05T13:08:55.934+01:002010-09-05T13:08:55.934+01:00It sounds like you've seen Jupiter. I am not sure about a 'bright red' outer layer, that could be an artifact of the atmosphere where you are.
Jupiter's not getting closer to Earth, although it will soon be at opposition, i.e. opposite the Sun in its orbit, and therefore bright in the night sky.
If you look at Jupiter with binoculars you'll see up to four of its brightest moons, either side of the planet. With a telescope, you'll see bands, especially the North Equatorial Belt, and some other detail.Faith Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12836900324147843307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2803662201704004667.post-20623504238960735252010-09-05T05:12:23.751+01:002010-09-05T05:12:23.751+01:00I'm sorry I do not know all the words for the ...I'm sorry I do not know all the words for the things that are in the sky, but I would like to ask you a question. In a sense. My name is Sara , I live in Michigan and I was looking at the night sky and appearing at the east is this really bright star. It's always in th same location and has been for 2 wks now. It seeming to get larger. Tonight it's core is bright white. Out layer somewhat bright red. I was wondering if you knew anything about this. I have read that Jupiter is getting closer to planet earth. Closest it has been since 1951. I think that's amazing If that's what this bright light in the sky is. Please get back to me if you have any information regarding this matter. Thank you !Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
